J Marcos Reyes

Born to Cuban immigrants in New York and raised in Miami, I am an artist and designer currently based in Denver. I am the founder and Creative Director of Crosshatch, a branding and graphic design studio, and a studio artist at RiNo Art District Studios.

My work, both in design and in the studio, begins with loose sketches and drawings. These early marks act as a form of open-ended ideation, often becoming the foundation for larger, mixed-media pieces. The resulting work is defined by expressive mark-making, layered compositions, and an emphasis on texture, often retaining the spontaneity of the sketchbook.

Inspired by the natural beauty of Colorado, my art reflects the region’s landscapes, light, and materiality. These influences are balanced by the urban energy of my upbringing and a subtle nod to my Cuban roots, creating work that explores contrast, rhythm, and color through layered form.

Through this portfolio, I aim to create work that blends authenticity with experimentation, inviting viewers into a space where process, intuition, and structure coexist.
